Any idea what could have gone wrong? This looks great! I made this today with what I had: My new fav chocolate cake! Yes, it can be made into a layer cake successfully, but as you found, it can stick if the pan isnt greased and floured well enough. Ill skip the hazelnut flavoringdidnt make a difference. The cake is so good and simple that I keep making it despite this! The batter is wet but not excessively so, and I had no problem with overflowing. And cheese! I also made icing as written (all mixed in a bowl and then microwaved in 15 sec. I followed the directions to a T. Any advice? But I plan to eat it anyway :). To be honest, I had never heard of or tried a chocolate olive oil cake before, but oh, do I intend to fix that now!! I preferred the cake heated over room temp/cooled & it actually reminded me of a lava cake, ha. Every ingredient was just sitting in my pantry already and it was a cinch to mix together and get in the oven. I made it with reg AP flour, baked the recipe in two 8 cake pans, which turned out v well. yes! Add water and vanilla to melted chocolate and stir (stir stir) until completely smooth (it will eventually get smooth!). That one you can take home, the rest should be consumed fresh. Delivers dark chcolate intensity and moist crumb for such little effort! What do you think? Last night I took it out, put the frosting on, and left it on my countertop overnight. I did use coffee (more accurately, water + ancient instant espresso powder), and threw in a bit of cake flour to the total cause I use KAF which is higher protein. Delicious!
